I’m going to shoot my shot and request fanart this year also! I truly didn’t expect this ship to grab me the way that it has, but, wow it really did. I nominated this pairing in the context of the 2011-2014 Wolverine & The X-Men run with headmaster Logan trying to keep the school from burning to the ground and Quentin raising hell, but if you want to explore their later dynamic, drop them into another timeline/alternate universe/canon divergence together, or mix and match versions of the characters from different runs, feel free. (My shipper's heart loved their affectionate/pugnacious interactions in X-Force.) I really enjoy versions of Quire that retain some of his grimy, nihilistic teenage nastiness from his Morrison-era origins, whether that’s as a tendency he still struggles with or a past he’s trying to atone for, and I’d be interested in Logan’s perspective on that as someone who’s also plainly capable of violence and havoc but who relates to that totally differently and who’s way too old for this shit.

- I’m a simple soul, I see these two sent to a glamorous interplanetary casino full of vices and secrets and I want things to get a little weird there, sexually. (Or romantically, I’m easy.) Art-wise, I love that moment with Quentin getting speared on Logan’s claws, and in general stuff that plays with the artificiality of that setting to explore alternatives, fantasies, and unlikely happenings.
- Anything in the time honored canon tradition of time travel nonsense — one or both of them, voluntary time travel of a “we need to go back in time to stop xyz” variety or getting accidentally dislocated in time via comic book plot device means, encountering one another in unexpected ways or having to work together and rely on one another. Similarly I’m interested in the messiness around identity that death and resurrection (or effectively being dead and then being poured into a new body a la Krakoa) can cause, and both of them having complex feelings about grieving somebody who can come back, processing a death that isn't permanent or reuniting with someone you were still grieving.
- Something set in Quentin’s poor-little-rich-boy era — I loved Logan crashing his 17th birthday party and it seems like an excellent time for some terrible idea furtive hooking up, or for some arcane kinky Hellfire Club humiliation rituals (happy birthday, here’s a Wolverine in a box) derailed by feelings and lingering loyalties. Logan’s idea of a good time is a lot more blue-collar than the ultra-rich designer drug midnight rave shit Quire gets into, so maybe something set in either extreme of city nightlife, the VIP suite at a luxury nightclub or the grimy alley behind a bar.
- Logan trying to be a decent mentor in the aftermath of sex pollen/bad guys made them do it/similar macguffin-induced consent violation plot devices, while Quire struggles with messy emotions and maybe contemplates if it’s gauche to try for a do-over on his terms. In general I love seeing Logan’s worldly disillusionment and experience as a mentor (especially a mentor to troubled tween/teen girls) bump into Quire’s combination of intense arrogance and equally-intense immaturity.

This fandom has a pass for my teacher/student and high school AU DNWs, since those elements are all very much canon, but I’m not interested in a realistic depiction of teacher-student sexual exploitation with Wolverine as a systematic abuser. Angsty sexual exploitation by, idk, Mondo/Sabretooth/etc. in a Hellfire Academy context, or of Logan in the past, is totally fine.

This villain-hero dynamic is like catnip to me and I truly just want to roll around in it. All the fucky identity stuff falls away (well... not all the way away) and David sees his lifelong tormentor as a person, but as a person whose morality and whose values are totally at odds with his own even when they're both being supervillainous bastards. I can't get enough of the teasing and taunting between these two, all that deliberate provocation going both ways, on top of the sheer tragedy of everything that's become of David.

- David haunting Farouk, intimately, or vice-versa. My grimmest canon-divergence AU desire is something where instead of busting out of Federal Mutant Superjail at the end of s2, David impulsively and maybe-not-even-intentionally kills himself (listen… it’s dark) and then David’s consciousness (or... consciousnesses) get stuck hanging around for Farouk the way Lenny’s seemingly was for David back in s1. Or where David successfully mercs Farouk while he’s re-embodied in the desert only to end up with a little psychic shrapnel with an attitude problem.
- post-s3-finale fic set in the timeline version where David’s raised by Charles Xavier and he’s never had to deal with Farouk as a psychic parasite but he’s nevertheless plenty fucked up. Getting in over his head with that timeline’s version of Farouk, who’s been warned of the dangers of messing with this kid but can’t resist, or doing the pursuing and proving himself to be pretty monstrous in his own right.
- Really mindfucky noncon/dubcon — I love that it’s impossible to tell how sincere Farouk ever is about anything until the very end, and even if he’s grown attached to David that hasn’t stopped him from putting him through hell, so either and/or both of these guys doing monstrous things for love (or at least desire) is my favorite thing. I’d also be interested in seeing what kind of preamble would be necessary for David to reciprocate or at least tolerate Farouk’s attraction — what would need to change, or what kind of deception would need to take place?
- I love the horror/intimacy/horrifying intimacy/intimate horror of engaging with someone who’s known you while you haven’t had the same privilege — or conversely, Farouk catching actual feelings for someone (the guy he’s seen as a clueless pawn at best and a human prison the rest of the time!) and freaking the fuck out about it. I love nasty things happening to Diarmuid (and nice ones!) but I also am intrigued by the potential for a closer understanding between them, if not necessarily an affectionate one, and an exploration of the clash of cultures going on at this historical moment.

- post-s3-finale fic set in the timeline version where David’s raised by Charles Xavier and he’s never had to deal with Farouk as a psychic parasite but he’s nevertheless plenty fucked up. Getting in over his head with that timeline’s version of Farouk, who’s been warned of the dangers of messing with this kid but can’t resist, or doing the pursuing and proving himself to be pretty monstrous in his own right.
- Really mindfucky noncon/dubcon — I love that it’s impossible to tell how sincere Farouk ever is about anything until the very end, and even if he’s grown attached to David that hasn’t stopped him from putting him through hell, so either and/or both of these guys doing monstrous things for love (or at least desire) is my favorite thing. I’d also be interested in seeing what kind of preamble would be necessary for David to reciprocate or at least tolerate Farouk’s attraction — what would need to change, or what kind of deception would need to take place?
- I love the horror/intimacy/horrifying intimacy/intimate horror of engaging with someone who’s known you while you haven’t had the same privilege — or conversely, Farouk catching actual feelings for someone (the guy he’s seen as a clueless pawn at best and a human prison the rest of the time!) and freaking the fuck out about it. Do with that what you will.
- Art or fic exploring the wide world of symbolism and imagery that characterizes these two’s interactions. We’ve got spiders, we’ve got homoerotic Greco-Roman wrestling, we've got Muppets, we’ve got David in shorts and tall socks... vignettes dramatizing more psychic dueling or showing them locked in different kinds of symbolic showdown! Or, if not in active battle, some other form of symbolic detente — as allies, or as triumphant conqueror and defeated enemy. David on his big old throne of skulls, with that defeated-but-still-sexy old man at his feet, or Farouk enjoying his life of evil luxury with David in chains, literal or metaphorical?
Fandom-specific DNW: “mutant powers don’t exist”-type AUs; fusions with the mainline MCU. I’d rather not receive fic where Farouk’s physical attraction to David explicitly predates his mid-teens.
Re. my incest DNW, I love and am happy to receive fic where Farouk’s ostensible paternal/nurturing feelings toward David are real and coexist alongside romantic/sexual/sadistic ones and I love various flavors of twisted daddy kink/incest-adjacent themes with these two, but I’d prefer no AUs where Farouk is David’s literal family member in the mundane sense.

Brother Diarmuid/Raymond De Merville
Two dudes from two very different homosocial environments and two very different cultures, with Raymond's exquisite violence and daddy issues making a great contrast to helpless, harmless Diarmuid who's never been outside the monastery before and may be an actual orphan/child oblate. I love nasty things happening to Diarmuid (and nice ones!) but I also am intrigued by the potential for a closer understanding between them, if not necessarily an affectionate one, and an exploration of the clash of cultures going on at this historical moment.
Prompts:
- Raymond makes Diarmuid his concubine and takes him back to England (or France) by force.
- Conversely, Raymond makes Diarmuid his """"""personal chaplain"""" and takes him back to England (or France) by force. In either case I'd love to see Diarmuid thrust into civilian clothes for the first time in his life and dealing with the very different social mores of Anglo-Norman society.

- Any kind of weird hostage situation where Raymond begins to feel grudging affection/protectiveness for Diarmuid and hates it. (Whether or not Diarmuid starts to feel a reciprocal obligation toward his captor, and especially if not.)
- Hurt-comfort with Raymond giving Diarmuid medical attention, or vice versa. (I love Diarmuid and Ciaran's interest in herbalism in canon, so feel free to draw that out.) With villain ships, I really enjoy the villain having a legit pang of conscience now and again, if not necessarily enough to turn Diarmuid loose.
