skazka...and of gross things that float around in the ocean for a long time, I have AMC's The Terror fandom not!BPALs. (For characters, not fic authors, or mine would just be "sweaty hairy pits, pipe tobacco, and vetiver".) I love procrastinating by researching characters' perfume choices, especially in settings that are pre-20th century perfumery, and I love coming up with more abstract scent associations for characters who realistically smell less than lovely. Disclaimer that none of these blends have been tested out in any proportion whatsoever, none of these exist for real, and all of them are weird jokes.
FRANKLIN
A fatherly and dignified gentleman's fougere -- lavender, bay leaf, bergamot, oakmoss, and lashings of sea spray.
FITZJAMES
Sweet orange, clove bud, and glove leather.
CROZIER
Whiskey, juniper-berry, bitter green galbanum, and oakmoss.
IRVING
Bulgarian rose and spruce undercut by a thick layer of nard and some not very low-church incense.
LITTLE
Saltwater-soaked tobacco, red musk, and a smear of black grease.
BLANKY
Brisk and energizing: dry mint, white fir needle, and vetiver.
GOODSIR
Peru balsam, carrot seed, pink pepper, petitgrain, and a bevy of marine grasses.
SILNA
Fennel, benzoin, sweet aniseed, and dry furs.
PEGLAR
Spikenard, yarrow blossom, vanilla, and sweet myrtle greens.
BRIDGENS
Leather, orris, and crushed marjoram leaf.
HICKEY
Hawaiian sandalwood, manuka flower, ginger, thyme, and tobacco.
GIBSON
Pipe tobacco, skin musk, and strong black tea.
TOZER
A fiery blend of ginger, black pepper, and red musk.
SOPHIA
A maidenly and discreet trio of palmarosa, neroli, and oakmoss.
LADY JANE
Angelica, bois-du-rose, and rosemary for remembrance.
That's a whole lotta dude smells, whoo boy. Some of these are inspired by vintage 19th century perfumery but most of them are just for lols.
